How to heat proof your make up!

With temperatures off the charts, there's one thing on our mind – How do we keep our make-up intact? 

Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to help your make-up last! Below, Danielle Gregory – Founder of Doll Beauty outlines her survival guide for helping your make-up stick this summer!

 

When we hear SPF, we automatically think sun cream – which isn’t the ideal primer! But SPF really is important to not only protect your skin, but prep it. It's the holy grail right – finding a concealer that hits the spot! Whilst there are a lot of products that boast a high level of coverage, there are few I stand by as a MUA myself - especially in this weather. We recommend Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. We find this prodct long lasting – standing the test of time even in 30 degree heat!

 

 

We find a water-based foundation to be the best! They are hydrating & much better than an oil-based formula which will disappear quicker than you can imagine! We are obsessed with MAC's Studio Welterweight – this is a lightweight formula & feels like you're not wearing anything at all! This also contains SPF 30 – so always a winner for us! For those wanting an increased level of coverage, you can build up accordingly – but we recommend not going overboard! The key is keeping it lightweight! 

 

Seeming like the obvious choice – powder right? Correct. But use this sparingly! The last thing you want is complete build up of product which then becomes a bit cakey! Use the powder to set your foundation lightly gently brush over the areas that desperately need it – e.g t-zone & chin. Pop this in your bag for rea-application throughout the day but don’t go wild –  as the day goes on, blot rather than swipe!

 

Waterproof Mascara is a MUST! This should be part of your beauty bag essentials as it is. For a long-lasting look, you need your mascara to stay put from day to night – we don’t want any panda eyes now do we girls?

 

The final stages! Ideally, setting spray should be used as part of your make up routine day or night, Really, you should be using this whatever the weather, but it's especially great in the summer. Hold the spray out wide from your face & spritz spritz spritz away! Make sure you don’t et too close & drown the skin but just far enough to feel the mist land. Once this has settled, give a quick brush over with powder, top up the highlight & you are good to go!
